From Classroom to Lifelong Learning: My Journey After Retirement
After retiring from teaching elementary school, I realized my passion for education didn't stop at the classroom door. Teaching had always been more than just a job for me—it was a calling. I decided that even in retirement, I wanted to continue sharing knowledge and inspiring students in any way I could. Whether through tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering, my goal remains the same: to help others learn and grow. Retirement, for me, isn't about stepping away from teaching but embracing new opportunities to make a difference in students' lives.
My Educational Journey
I take pride in my educational background, which has shaped me into who I am today. After graduating from Greece Athena High School, I earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Monroe Community College. I then pursued a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Elementary Education at SUNY Brockport, igniting my passion for teaching and human behavior. To further specialize, I completed a Master’s in Reading at SUNY Brockport, gaining advanced literacy education expertise. Each step of this journey has prepared me for a rewarding career and lifelong learning.
Professional Teaching Experience
With extensive experience in education, I have had the privilege of teaching various grade levels across diverse settings. I began my teaching journey at a private school, where I taught fifth grade. Following that, I served in the Rochester City School District, teaching K-8 reading and helping students build strong literacy foundations. The majority of my career was dedicated to Churchville Elementary School, where I taught grades 1 through 4, fostering a love for learning and academic growth in young minds. My diverse background in teaching has allowed me to connect with students of all ages and make a lasting impact in their educational journeys.
